Alfa Romeo’s range wouldn’t be complete without a sporty family hatchback, and the Giulietta steps deftly into that role.
The Giulietta name is a mainstay of the Alfa Romeo brand. It’s had its ups and downs, but this is undoubtedly one of the finest incarnations of the Giulietta yet.
Three engines are available in the Giulietta range, an 88 kW 1.4-litre turbo engine, a 125 kW 1.4-litre turbo MultiAir engine, and a 177 kW 1.75-litre turbo direct injection engine. Transmission options are 6-speed manual or 6-speed twin-clutch semi-automatic transmission, depending on the engine model. The top engine model has a 0-100 km/h time of 5 seconds, and a top speed of 244 km/h.
Power is delivered to the front wheels, which are mounted on a MacPherson strut suspension. The rears are equipped with multi-link suspension. Wheels are available in 16” 17”, or 18” alloys, depending on the model. The models equipped with automatic Alfa TCT transmissions provide the best fuel consumption, and subsequently, the lowest emissions. However, all engine models are equipped with Start&Stop functionality to cut down on emissions in city traffic.
Each Giulietta model comes standard with 6 airbags, ABS brakes with Brake Assist, and Electronic Stability Control to help keep you safe.
Interior trim varies per model. The base and Super models offer attractive and sturdy cloth seats. The Veloce model goes towards the luxury end with leather and Alcantara seats with integrated headrests. The Veloce model, true to its name, also goes all out with sportiness, offering a lowered sports suspension, oversized twin exhaust pipes, and paddle gear shifters.
Whether you intend to use your Giulietta as a family car or a fun car, you’ll always have plenty of storage space in the spacious boot, as befits a 5-door hatchback.
